The Foolproof Guide To Reducing Anxiety Symptoms

February 04, 20265 min read

Anxiety symptoms can make life uncomfortable, and if left untreated, life can become difficult and unpleasant.
Here are some of our favourite ways to reduce your anxiety symptoms and enjoy life again.

1. Walking In the Morning To Reduce Cortisol Levels.

Morning cortisol levels are often a problem as they can increase your anxiety first thing in the morning.

Our bodies naturally produce cortisol around 30 minutes after we wake up, while those with anxiety issues find their bodies make it before they wake up, making us feel anxious, nervous and disturb sleep patterns.

To reduce these symptoms, the best thing we can do is to get up and into daylight and walk, even on dull days.
This quickly reduces our cortisol levels and makes us feel better.

2. Good Hydration. Drinking Enough Water.

Health professionals often claim that a good percentage of people are dehydrated, and a dehydrated brain can easily increase our anxiety levels and cause panic attacks.

Two to three litres of clean water or herbal teas a day can make such a difference to our mood.
Remember, diuretics such as alcohol, caffeine and coffee will reduce your hydration levels.

3. Organic Green Tea.

Green tea is one of those rare things that can make you feel calmer and more alert at the same time.

Despite having small amounts of caffeine, green tea also contains L-theanine, which reduces anxiety symptoms.

Stick to no more than 3 cups a day, and organic brands are far better.

4. Removing Coffee.

Coffee, despite tasting so good, is known to increase or cause anxiety symptoms in some people, and around 50% of people struggle to metabolise coffee properly. This often reduces as we age.

To discover if coffee is causing you an anxiety issue, try removing it from your diet for 2 to 3 weeks and then reintroduce it, noticing how it makes you feel. You may be surprised at the difference.
.
Alternatively, there are health tests available to see if coffee is causing you problems.

5. Finding Fun Things To Do.

As life is so busy these days, many people don’t get out and enjoy life enough, opting for rest when we escape from work.

Catching up with friends and family, enjoying a night out, taking a relaxing break, cooking a nice meal, and relaxing with a good book are all easy ways to reduce stress and anxiety.
Make a point of scheduling in some time for yourself each week and notice the benefits.

6. Spending Time In Beautiful Places.

Forest Bathing is now recognised by psychologists and the new term to describe getting out into nature.

We know walking is so good for us, and when we take the time to notice the woods, wildlife and things around us, our anxiety and stress levels drop nicely.

7. Creating And Practicing A Daily Routine.

One of the biggest ways to reduce anxiety and anxiety symptoms is to invest a small amount of time each day.

Creating a daily routine is the proven ways to work towards eliminating anxiety issues for good, as you work to replace anxiety and stress with confidence and success.

The challenge is that most people are willing to put in a small amount of time each day and are unsure of exactly where to start.
Working with a trained professional is the fastest way to do this.

8. Focusing on The Problem - The Biggest Mistake.

Many people spend most of their time focusing on the problem, anxiety and anxiety symptoms.
They can do this by talking about anxiety, spending time in anxiety support groups, researching anxiety symptoms or working through outdated therapy that focuses on why they have anxiety issues.

When people “shift” their focus from anxiety to “how they would rather feel instead”, they then start to work towards feeling calm, relaxed and confident.

Learning tools and techniques to move into a “positive mental state” is the fastest way to reduce and then resolve anxiety and anxiety symptoms.

9. A Diet Of Negative News And Information.

Our minds are naturally trained to look for threats, and the media has learned that negative stories and news attract our attention.

Reducing the amount of negative news we consume is a big step in the right direction.

Deliberately taking time to look for the positives around us trains our minds to look for the good things in life and lifts our mood.

10. Understanding Serotonin And Melatonin.

When healthy, our bodies naturally produce serotonin and melatonin, which help with goodmood and good sleep.

However, if we have issues with our digestive system, gut biome, digestive health, food intolerances, hormones or other health issues, production of serotonin and melatonin can be reduced, making mental health issues worse.

Thankfully, by identifying any issues with our digestive system, gut biome, digestive health, food intolerances, hormones or other health issues, production of serotonin and melatonin can be improved quickly, and when used in conjunction with modern therapy, many issues can quickly be resolved in 4 to 6 weeks, rather than many months.
